Avoid aspirin (any product containing acetylsalicylic acid), vitamin E, St John’s Wort, and other dietary supplements including: ginkgo, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, and ginseng for 2 weeks prior to appointments. Avoid ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and alcohol for 2 days prior to appointment.
If possible, come to your appointment with a cleanly washed face without make-up.
If you have been prescribed & are currently taking anticoagulation medication (Warfarin, Coumadin, heparin, Lovenox, Enoxaparin, Lepirudin, Refludadan, Ticlopidine, Ticlid, Clopidogrel, Plavix, Tirofiban, Aggrastat, Eptifibatide, Integrilin) discuss the use of these medications with your healthcare provider prior to your treatment.
You may or may not be a candidate for treatment with cosmetic dermal fillers.
Skin redness and swelling in the treatment area is common. This should resolve within a few days. If it persists longer than 3 days, please contact your injector.
Do not massage the treated areas, unless instructed to. Avoid applying heat to the treated area until any swelling or bruising have resolved. Routine washing and showering is fine.
Avoid activities that cause facial flushing on the day of treatment including: consuming alcohol, exercising, and tanning.
Gently apply a cool compress or wrapped ice pack to the treated areas for 15 minutes every few hours as needed to reduce discomfort, swelling, or bruising up to a few days after treatment.
If bruising occurs it typically resolves within 7–10 days.
After treatment, oral and/or topical Arnica montana may help reduce bruising and swelling.
If 2 weeks after treatment you feel that you require a touch-up, please contact us. It's possible that you may need additional filler to achieve full/optimal correction. This can be initiated two weeks after your initial injections.
Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hours. Wash gently prior to bed, but avoid applying creams/lotions to the treated area the night of treatment.
Avoid direct heat to the treated area (sauna, steam room, hot tubs) for 48 hours.. Wash gently prior to bed, but avoid applying creams/lotions to the treated area the night of treatment.
Avoid lying on your face for an extended period of time 2 days.
Avoid facials for 7 days.
Wash cosmetic brushes/sponges with soap and water.
Cold/ice packs may be used on injection sites for pain-relief, swelling, bruising, redness & discomfort. Avoid taking over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications & blood thinning medications 2-3 days post-treatment to minimize occurrence of bruising. Tylenol® is recommended in case of post-injection pain. Topical arnica gel is also recommended to minimize pain, swelling & bruising associated with toxin injections. Topical silver gel is recommended to decrease infection risk.
Neurotoxin onset of action on average peaks at the 7th day.
